Privacy Policy

What this site collects, what it does not, and what you can ask us to do about it — written to be read rather than skimmed past.

PDF Sign Compare is a publication, not a service. We have no accounts, no sign-ups, and no reason to build a profile of you. This policy explains the small amount of data that does get handled when you read the site.

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to pdfsigncompare.com and the pages published on it. It does not cover the signing tools, vendors, or other websites we link to. Once you follow a link away from here, that destination's own privacy policy governs what happens next, and we would encourage you to read it — particularly for a product you intend to upload documents to.

What we collect

Information you send us

If you email [email protected], we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it to reply and to make corrections to the site, and we keep it only as long as the correspondence is useful. We do not add correspondents to a mailing list, because there is no mailing list.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, ours is served by infrastructure that records standard technical information in server logs — the page requested, the time, a referring page, a rough approximation of location derived from your network address, and your browser and device type. This is used to keep the site working and to understand which comparisons people actually read.

Analytics

We may use a third-party analytics service to count visits and see which pages get read. Where analytics is enabled, it may set cookies or use similar storage in your browser to tell a returning visit from a new one. We look at analytics in aggregate — page totals, referral sources, broad geography. We do not use it to identify individual readers, and we do not combine it with anything else.

What we never collect

We do not ask for or store documents. Nothing you sign, upload, or process using a tool we write about passes through this site. There are no accounts here, so there are no passwords, no payment details, and no document contents in our hands at any point.

Cookies and similar storage

The site uses a small number of cookies and browser-storage entries, and only for these purposes:

You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking them will not stop you reading anything here; the site is static pages and works fine without them.

Affiliate links

Some outbound links on this site are affiliate links. When you follow one, the merchant may record that the visit came from us and may pay us a commission if you subsequently sign up or subscribe. The information the merchant collects at that point is theirs, governed by their privacy policy, and we do not receive your personal details as part of it — commission reporting we see is anonymous and aggregated. Our editorial approach to affiliate links is described on the About page.

Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information, because we do not hold a store of it. The only third parties involved are the service providers that make the site work — hosting, content delivery, and analytics — and each processes data only to provide that service. We may also disclose information if we are legally required to.

Your choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of personal information relating to you. Given how little we hold, the practical answers are usually short — but if you want to know what we have, or want an email exchange deleted, write to [email protected] and we will handle it.

You can also opt out of analytics entirely by using your browser's tracking-protection settings, a content blocker, or a "do not track" preference where the provider honours it.

Children

This site is written for adults evaluating software and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection and holds no reader accounts or document data, which removes most of what could be lost. Email correspondence is stored with an ordinary mail provider. No system is perfect, and we would not claim otherwise.

Changes to this policy

If our practices change — for example, if we add or remove an analytics provider — we will update this page to match. Continuing to use the site after a change means the revised policy applies to you.
